Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice revolves around various aspects of family issues. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues marital property division fights over child custody and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement issues such as step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions, as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as trusts, wills and probate and estate administration along with commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has served a court-appointed mediator since 2019 and assists parties in helping them settle their disputes without need for litigation and court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who wish to avoid court processes and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to work as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, deepening her understanding of the local legal landscape. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the by their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned far beyond her legal profession since she was actively an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force and worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state area.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law including divorce, child support, custody, and guardianships - aswell as estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a the goal of providing a personalized approach to every client's needs.
