Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's law practice is focused on family law. She has a love for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues, marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement issues including step-parent adoptions as well as private party adoptions, as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since 2019. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private cases and also court-appointed mediations for people who wish to avoid litigation and court processes.
After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. When she graduated in 2013, she excelled academically, ranking among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This proved her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
Ashley began her clerkship journey after completing her law degree. She worked for distinguished jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the honor of being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. The primary goal of the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases that involved child welfare. Ashley's tireless efforts were instrumental in helping children who suffered in the face of neglect or abuse at care of their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice spanned beyond the realm of law as she actively served as a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force and worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tristate area.
In 2017 she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and began her practice in family law - divorce, custody and child maintenance, as well as guardianships – as well as financial and estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with an intention to provide an individual approach to each client's needs.
